The Department of Materials Science at UNIMIB, an integral part of the university since its inception, received the qualification of Department of Excellence from the MIUR ministry in 2018. Equipped with state-of-the-art research laboratories and fuelled by the global surge in nanotechnologies, the department focuses on functional materials, particularly emphasizing technology and nanotechnology applications in semiconductors, polymers, ionic conductors, and materials for digital and quantum technologies.
